Notice

Effective June 1, 2020, Rates 8 and 9 were consolidated and replaced by the following two rates:

-Oil and Gas Field Service – Single Phase – Rate 9A
-Oil and Gas Field Service – Three Phase – Rate 9B

Rates

Rate classification and assignment shall be made by Karnes Electric in accordance with the application and type of service provisions in its rate schedules. Rate schedules have been developed for the standard types of service provided by the cooperative. Rate availability includes the following:


Small General Service

Availability

Small General Service is available to Members of the Cooperative for electric service for all nonresidential Members in accordance with the Cooperative’s service rules and regulations, where the metered kW demand is less than 50 kW, except for uses specifically served under other rate schedules provided by the Cooperative. This Small General Service Rate 3 is also applicable for service to farming and ranching activities including fence chargers, gate openers, stock tanks, barns, hunting camps, recreation facilities, recreational vehicles, travel trailers, residential property rented or leased on a temporary basis, vaction properties or second homes which do not have permanent residents throughout the year, and other similar uses.  

Type of Service

The electric service furnished hereunder shall be either single‐phase or three‐phase service, where available, at the Cooperative’s standard secondary voltages.

Irrigation Service

Availability

Irrigation Service is available to Members of the Cooperative for electric service to irrigation pumps or systems used for crop irrigation in accordance with the Cooperative’s Service Rules and Regulations, and under the following conditions:

  1. Service to motors with a rated capacity in excess of twenty-five (25) horsepower shall be three‐phase.
  2. Wiring, poles, conductor, and other electric equipment beyond the Cooperative’s meter shall be considered the distribution system of the Member, and shall be furnished, operated, and maintained by the Member.
  3. Service shall be provided by the Cooperative only if the applicant executes the Membership and Electric Service Agreement for a period of not less than twelve (12) months prior to each extension of service to a new location or reconnection of service at an existing location.

Large General Service

Availability

Large General Service is available to Members of the Cooperative for electric service for all nonresidential uses in accordance with the Cooperative’s Service Rules and Regulations, where the metered kW demand is 50 kW or greater but does not exceed 1,000 kW, except for Members specifically served under other rate schedules provided by the Cooperative.  

Type of Service

The electric service furnished hereunder shall be either single‐phase, or three‐phase where available, at the cooperative’s standard secondary voltages.

Area Light Service

Availability

Area Lighting Service is available to Members of the Cooperative for the lighting of outdoor areas in accordance with the Cooperative’s Service Rules and Regulations.

Type of Service and Monthly Rate

On and after November 1, 2021 the Cooperative shall provide new service, or service to an existing location of a Discontinued Fixture, and shall install only the following fixture types ad sizes at the specified monthly rate:

Type of Service and Monthly Rate
  1. Replacements of bulbs will be made by the cooperative at no cost for the labor and/or bulbs unless the replacement is required because of malicious mischief and vandalism, including breakage due to rocks, bullets, etc. For the first instance of damage due to malicious mischief or vandalism, the cooperative shall replace the bulb at no cost to the member. For all subsequent instances of damage due to malicious mischief or vandalism, the member shall pay the replacement cost of the damaged parts, plus the trip fee as specified in Section 205.1B. If the member refuses to pay the replacement cost plus the specified trip fee, the cooperative may remove the fixture, and shall not be obligated to install a fixture at the existing location or any proximate location.
  2. If the member requests that the cooperative replace any fixture or non‐damaged part of any fixture, or that the cooperative install a different type of fixture, then
    the member shall pay a trip fee, as specified in Section 205.1, plus the cost of the new fixture and/or replacement parts, plus $25.00 labor.
  3. Upon termination of service, the cooperative shall have the right to remove from the property of the member any equipment which the cooperative may have installed to provide service under this schedule.

Oil and Gas Field Service- Single Phase

Availability

Oil and Gas Field Service – Single Phase is available to Members of the Cooperative for single phase electric service to oil and gas field activities including, but not limited to oil well pumping, rectifiers used for cathodic protection, tank batteries, and other related oil and/or gas activities, including service to a Member whose primary product or service is provided to the oil and or gas industries, and where the Member is not specifically served under other rate schedules, in accordance with the Cooperative’s Service Rules and Regulations.  

Type of Service

The electric service furnished hereunder shall be single‐phase, 60 hertz, at the cooperative’s standard secondary voltages.

Oil and Gas Field Service- Three Phase

Availability

Oil and Gas Field Service – Three Phase is available to Members of the Cooperative for three phase electric service to oil and gas field activities including, but not limited to oil well pumping, rectifiers used for cathodic protection, tank batteries, salt water disposal systems, pipeline compression stations, sand plants, and other related oil and/or gas activities, including service to a Member whose primary product or service is provided to the oil and/or gas industries, and where the Member is not specifically served under other rate schedules, in accordance with the Cooperative’s Service Rules and Regulations.  

Type of Service

The electric service furnished hereunder shall be three‐phase, 60 hertz, at the cooperative’s standard secondary voltages.

Primary Oil and Gas Field Service

Availability

Primary Oil and Gas Field Service is available to Members of the Cooperative receiving three phase, primary voltage service for the operation of private electric distribution systems in oil and gas fields under the Cooperative’s contract for primary service for service for oil and gas field operations. 

Type of Service

The electric service furnished hereunder shall be three‐phase, 60 hertz, four-wire wye, at the Cooperative’s standard primary nominal voltages of either 12,500/7,200 volts or 24,900/14,400 volts.

Industrial Service

Availability

Industrial Service is available to Members of the Cooperative for electric service provided through one meter where the member has established a peak demand greater than 1,000 kW during the current billing period or the prior 11 billing periods. Oil & Gas, Oil & Gas Pipeline Pumping, and Water Pipeline Pumping loads are excluded from this rate.

Primary Industrial Service

Availability

Available to oil and/or gas industrial service with an aggregate load of 1 MW or greater.

The electric service furnished hereunder shall be three‐phase, 60 hertz, at the Cooperative’s standard primary or secondary voltages or other voltages as specifically agreed upon.

Fees

Membership Fee: $5.00 (Refundable upon termination of service)
Consumer Deposit: The cooperative may require that you maintain a deposit balance up to the estimated billing for the sum of the three average months during a 12-month period.
Investigation Fee: $75.00
Miscellaneous Service Fee: $125.00
Disconnection and/or Reconnection Fee: $75.00*
Collection Fee: $75.00*
Returned Check Fee: $35.00
Meter Test Fee: $100.00 – $150.00
Delinquent Accounts Fee: 5.0%
Reproduction of Tariff Sheets: At cost
Temporary Service: $200.00 Plus any applicable line extension costs
Meter Reading Fee: $75.00
Meter Tampering Fee: $500.00 – $1,000.00
Line Relocation: At cost

*Before 8:00 a.m. or after 5:00 p.m. and on weekends/holidays, add $50.00.

Delinquent Accounts

Your bill is considered delinquent if payment has not been received in the cooperative’s offices within sixteen (16) days after the bill is issued. A disconnect notice will be mailed stating the account will be disconnected without further notice if the past due amount is not paid within ten (10) days.
